How to Keep Your Cats Cool During the Summer
In the UK we've been having some excellent Summer weather! But no matter where in the world you are, during the hot Summer months we should always aim to help our cats keep cool. Here's a few tips and tricks that your cats love!
Drinking Water
No matter where our cats are it's ideal to have multiple drinking stations. We have two drinking water bowls downstairs, one upstairs and one outside in the garden. Drinking water fountains are excellent for cats, as they love to drink from running water, and it also encourages them to drink and keep cool.
Ensure the bowls are filled with fresh water daily.

Cool Room
Provide a cool room for your cats. We always have one room with the window slightly open to allow a cool breeze to enter. We also keep the blinds shut to keep the beaming sunshine out. We have cool mats on the floor which they can lay on. When they're too hot, they can chill out and cool down in the cool room!
Grooming
Two of our cats are long haired. We take special care to brush them daily to avoid a build up of furballs. With a nice clean and soft coat this helps keep our cats cool.
Keep Shaded During High Noon
During the peak sunshine of the day around 11am-2pm, we provide shade for our cats and try to keep them indoors where its cool. We also check the heat of the floor outside with our hand to ensure its not too hot for their paws.
