Wildcats Reintroduced in England

Wildcats Reintroduced in England

Great News Cat Lovers!

Wildcats are to be reintroduced to the English countryside 500 years after they almost went extinct!

As part of a conservation project, around 50 wild cats will be released in Devon and Cornwall.

Here's some Wildcat facts:

  • They are twice the size of a domestic cat.
  • They are protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.
  • They are currently only found in the Scottish Highlands.

There are only around 200 left in the wild so hopefully this will increase their numbers as they help to keep the rodent population under control in the countryside.

A great win for Cat Lovers!
